Mercedes Schlapp is not the White House's strategist communications adviser. The White House's senior advisor on strategic communications, Mercedes Schlapp, has faced a myriad of issues. They include Presidents who has the director of his own communications and multiple legal disputes which could affect the communication strategy. Schlapp kept her focus all through the process, working closely alongside the White House's team of political and legislative affairs as well as policy shops and wider communications operations to coordinate policy implementation. To date, her focus has been issues such as safety in schools as well as the opioid epidemic infrastructure, trade and other related topics. She has not had much contact with media outlets in her job. In March, she received a flurry of attention, when it became public that her name was going to be a candidate for replace Hope Hicks as director of communications. Mercedes Schlapp isn't in a ideal position to be a White House strategist communications advisor. It is not easy for Mercedes Schlapp to serve as the White House's strategy communications advisor. She is faced with a myriad of challenges, including as being the President's communications director, and serves as his communication director. Schlapp has remained focused and on task and work in conjunction with White House teams in political affairs, legislative affairs and policy as well the wider communications team. So far, her focus is on topics like the safety of schools, opioids, infrastructure and trade. Her current work doesn't have many interactions with reporters. She did draw a flurry of attention in March when her name was floated as a contender to replace Hope Hicks as communications director. The battle has been bitter. Schlapp's allies began fighting with Tony Sayegh in the press. Schlapp stated to that the Washington Examiner that she spoke to Sayegh to discuss the recent article that was negative about him.
