Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actor known for her performance as the fierce lawyer Teri Joseph on the Showtime show Soul Food. The actress is known under her married name, Nikki Kodjoe. She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an aptitude for acting in her when she was a child and won an award for the best Actress award in an Maryland high-school competition. Her acting career began after she worked in the Washington Ballet Company and theatre. The actress received lots of praise for her first major role in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. The film was followed by films like 'Boogie Nights Spark' and Blue Streak. Soul Food received a lot of applause for her work. Also, she appeared in TV series like Second Time Around 'and Empire. Prior to that, she appeared in several stage productions. Parker was a politician and is also active in the realm of fashion and acting, is currently married to Boris Kodjoe. They have two daughters.
Contractor, born in Mumbai in India, was raised in Nigeria up until she turned seven. She had already experienced numerous travel experiences and other cultures since a young age. She attended boarding school in London from seven to nine years old, then her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she spent the majority of her early childhood and adulthood. Contractor trained in classical ballet in Toronto. She was also a star academically. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts which was a highly specialized high school where she was able to study not only dance, but also theatre. Contractor was 16 when she realized that performing would be her career. She danced for over a decade. As soon as she finished high school, she received a full Scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed the Master of Arts in Theatre. She was also a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor was a participant in the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After a full year of auditions, she was offered the lead part. The production she appeared in were praised by Canadian theater critics. The conservatory in Stratford is home to eight males as well as four females as well as a few others for a weeks crash course. The actor's involvement in the upcoming season's production was confirmed. She got the part of Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
